Load is the most important factor to be taken into account in bearing selection. The load size is related to the bearing type. The roller bearing can generally bear heavier load than the ball shaft with the same shape size, while the rolling bearing with rolling body is more loaded than the bearing with the corresponding cage.
Ball bearings are used for light or medium load occasions. For heavy load or heavy diameter shaft, roller bearings should be selected. The selection of bearings is also related to the load direction. Deep radial ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings can be used for pure radial loads. Thrust ball bearings are only suitable for adequate pure axial loads. One way thrust ball bearing can only bear axial load in one direction, and two direction thrust ball bearing and two way thrust angle contact bearing can bear axial load in two directions. When the bearing is subjected to radial and axial combined loads, angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings are generally applicable. Four point contact ball bearing and two way thrust angular contact ball bearing can bear the combined load with axial load as the dominant force in two directions.
